Scientist II/Senior Scientist, Translational Medicine and Biomarkers | ClinLab Staffing

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and driven immunologist or cellular biologist to join our Translational Medicine and Biomarkers team. The selected candidate will contribute scientific and laboratory expertise to the identification of disease and mechanistic biomarkers to support early clinical development programs. The successful candidate will work in a highly cross-functional manner, interacting with members of Research, Clinical, Process Development and Manufacturing as well as with external CROs

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Drive the development, execution and analysis of assays in early clinical studies to measure CAR-T cell persistence and phenotype, cytokine production and immunogenicity
  • Explore predictive biomarkers of toxicity and clinical response
  • Prepare data packages for technical reports, SOPs, and regulatory submissions
  • Manage the transfer of technical protocols to contract testing labs
  • Work collaboratively across internal discovery, manufacturing and clinical groups, external collaborators and contract research organizations
  • Oversee experimental design and results of junior scientists
  • Other duties as assigned

Competences, Skills and Qualification:

  • An independent, flexible, high-energy expert in immunology or cancer biology
  • PhD with at least 3 years of relevant industry or MS and at least 6 years of experience in a biopharmaceutical setting, or equivalent
  • Experience with assay development, particularly using flow cytometry, ELISA, multiplexed immunoassays, quantitative PCR, immunohistochemistry and cell-based methods
  • Significant prior experience with primary human cells, especially T cells, highly desirable. Industry experience with CAR-T cells preferred
  • A desire to meticulously execute bench work as well as mentor junior scientists
  • Demonstrated scientific productivity, as evidenced by strong publication record
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, standing in a lab and working on a computer.
  • Ability to safely travel to various physical locations.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
